Weddings
The Cider Barn is a simple, rustic and wonderfully charming venue. You’ll find this old agricultural stone and thatched barn up a bumpy track through the woods. When you arrive, you’re surrounded by the fields and woods of the Dillington Estate and are lost to the world – apart from the views across the rolling Somerset countryside – in your own magical and romantic haven.
As the owners can attest first-hand, it really is a truly magical place to get married!
FACILITIES
The natural beauty of the barn with its old wooden beams, stone walls and exposed thatch has been adorned with fairy lighting and rope metal chandeliers. Guests can flow straight from the barn out into the walled garden, a spacious and sunlit courtyard with plenty of sunshine, shade and countryside views.
It’s an unpretentious and understated venue, perfect for creating your own wedding without restrictions on who does the catering, who runs the bar, which wines are available, etc.. The barn works hand-in-hand with the Estate’s beautiful accommodation to make a full weekend of your celebrations.
CEREMONY
We are licensed for civil ceremonies and can host weddings of up to 120 guests. Take your vows under the historic barn archway while your guests look on out on the unique Somerset vista, or make a grand entrance through the rustic barn door and walk the length of the barn to meet your to-be under the thatch and fairylights.
If you’re a member of the Church of England, Whitelackington’s church of St. Mary’s is right next door and can also accommodate up to 140 guests. We would be happy to introduce you to the local vicar so please do ask us for more details.
RECEPTION
Couples are welcome to either wed onsite, or hold their ceremony elsewhere and use the barn just for the wedding breakfast and evening reception. Inside the barn, the fairy lighting, exposed thatch and rope and metal chandeliers create a magically romantic space to hold your reception. The Cider Barn can seat 120 guests for formal dinner, though you may seat more if you’re willing to use the covered lean-to or outside space. Between the barn and the walled garden outside, the venue has space for up to 150 evening guests standing for drinks and dancing. We also have a stretch tent to roof part of the walled garden outside, which creates an extra covered area for guests in case it’s raining (though we always keep our fingers crossed for good weather!).
CATERING
We delight in helping couples host memorable milestone celebrations. We recognise that catering is an essential part of any wedding, so to make sure you can arrange the day you want, the venue is happy to work with any caterer you choose and can provide support to new suppliers. We also have relationships with a few local vendors and can introduce you to help gather quotes for your unique event.
ACCOMMODATION
We have renovated a handpicked selection of properties across the Estate, all of which are situated within 2 miles of the Cider Barn. The couple and their guests can enjoy boutique-hotel comfort with the intimacy and privacy of your own space in preparation for the big day.
