HOLIDAY ACCOMMODATION – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

PROPERTIES

Q: Do you allow pets?
A: Yes, we allow well-behaved dogs on the estate, but ask owners to bring no more than two per property, and to keep them downstairs and off the furniture please! There is a £50 cleaning charge per dog

Q: Do properties have high chairs and cots?
A: High chairs and cots can be provided at any of our holiday cottages. Please let us know in advance if you would like them to be provided.

Q: Do the properties have dishwashers?
A: Yes, all properties have full-size dishwashers

Q: Do the properties have washing machines?
A: Yes, all properties have washer driers

Q: Do the properties have BBQs?
A: Yes, all of them have charcoal BBQs, though you may need to buy extra charcoal to top them up

Q: Is there Internet / WiFi in all of the properties?
A: Yes, all of our properties have Internet and WiFi. Some are able to get fibre-optic ultrafast broadband, others are still on copper wires and a more…rural broadband service! We cannot guarantee anything because we’re at the mercy of our service providers, but for emails and streaming Netflix TV the connections are usually fine

Q: What entertainment facilities are provided with the houses?
A: All of the houses have 55’’ internet-connected TVs with Bluetooth soundbars and a Bluetooth, DAB sound system. All are provided with some board-games, cards, a few books and magazines…and we try to keep these intact, so if any pieces are missing please report them so!

Q: Can we rent bicycles?
A: Yes, Adventure Cafe rent bicycles for adults and kids and can deliver to your property, they can be reached on 01823 444 246 or by email to: fraser@adventure-cafe.com

Q: Do you offer extra housekeeping?
A: For stays of two weeks or more, weekly housekeeping will be provided. Should you want extra housekeeping then this can be arranged in advance

Q: Can you recommend a local cook?
A: Yes, absolutely, there are a few local cooks we can recommend and put you in touch with, please see here for details

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: Please see our booking terms and conditions here

Q: What is the history of the Estate?
A: Please see an overview here and a more detailed history here in a speech given by Lord Cameron in 2008. There is also a book published on the history of Dillington House, but sadly it’s out of print, so you will have to look hard to find it! There is a brief history of the house on Wikipedia here though.


TRAVEL

Q: What’s the nearest train station?
A: Crewkerne station is a 15 minute drive away and is on the line from Waterloo, Taunton and Castle Cary are both a 25 minute drive away and on the main line from Paddington

Q: Where is the nearest airport?
A: The closest international airport is Exeter International which is approximately 30 miles away / a 40 minute drive. Bristol Airport is also easily accessible at approximately 45 miles / 1 hour drive

Q: Do the properties have parking?
A: Yes, the number of spaces varies by property

Q: What is the postcode for sat-nav?

LOCAL AREA

Q: What local pubs can you recommend?
A: There are several good local pubs, within walking / cycling distance such as the Dinnington Docks, Lord Poulett Arms and Barrington Boar. We also recommend the Stocklinch Ales micro-brewery which is open for visitors on Friday evenings after 7pm and Sunday lunchtimes.
